SU-5402 is a potent fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR)-specific tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Multiple myeloma studies suggest that SU 5402 inhibits FGFR3 phosphorylation in vitro. Research shows that inhibition of FGFR results in the blocking of nodal vesicular parcels (NVPs) secretion and an increase of Ca2+.
